Her name is Mercedes Maidana, she is from Buenos Aires, Argentina and her passion in life is surfing big waves. As she says, “I live for it, I breath it, and I want to be able to make a serious career out of it.” Mercedes’ goal is to become one of the best female big wave surfers in the world, both paddling into huge waves and towing in.

When Mercedes first approached Wave Tribe we asked her why she was interested in partnering with the world’s first green surf company, her stoke for surfing and her passion for life was as evident in her answer, “surfing is the love of my life. I would not know what to do or who to be if I didn’t have it. As any loving relationship, I think that it has to have a balance of giving and receiving. The ocean gives me more gifts than I could ever reciprocate.”

Wave Tribe team riders are more than surfers, they are conscious beings that recognize the importance of helping to transform the surf industry and when we asked Mercedes why green surf products were important to her she responded, “One way for me to keep the balance is to start doing small changes in my life to preserve what I love the most. That’s why sustainability is so important: is the simplest way to be thankful to nature.”

Ciao World!

My name Is Stefano Esposito 24 years old Italian surfer that got ranked TOP 5 at the USA Championship and NSSA open Men’s division 2010.

I moved from Rome-Italy to San Clemente, California about 4 years ago, I have been surfing since I was 15 in a small town near Rome with the name of Anzio. Anzio was the place that introduced me to surfing and made my passion for surfing grow to become one of the purposes of my life.

I have participated in contests since I was was young, I became #2 In Italy when I left and I start to compete here In the USA ranking higher and higher. I reached my top this year getting top 5 In the USA rank for my division.

I want to thanks all of you of Wave Tribe for letting me become part of your great surf team and get the pleasure of use your FANTASTIC accessories! : )

I have been using the new leashes made by WAVE TRIBE for about a month now, I can tell that the material that the products are made with Is really good and long lasting. I feel really comfortable using the super light back pad made by cork as well and has a extraordinary grip .

I’m so happy that Wave Tribe makes these Super Ecological surf Products because this is the way to be, this is the way to respect the heart and to show love to our ocean. Everybody should enjoy WT and promote a green surf company.

I have been into Organic and Green Products in general since I moved to California, I love the idea to recycling and I am honored to be be part of the change.

Everything started when I was young. As a kid we used to attend Surfrider sponsored clean-up days in Italy, going to beaches near Rome to clean up the mess left on the sand from tourists. I realize then that we could do so much more for the environment and we can make this planet a better place. With all the environmental disasters happening these days and talk about a bad economy it feels good to do something positive and put energy toward a local beach clean-up.

Since those days back in Italy I started to care more about the ecology and that’s why I’m super stoked to use eco products from Wave Tribe. Yesterday I left my surfboards in the car for 3 hours from 12 pm to 3 pm and thanks to the Wave Tribe Hemp Boardbag I saved my car for getting messy and dirty and I protected my surfboards from the sun in the best way; The Hemp WAY!

My name is Gordon Fontaine; I’m a 21 years old surfer from France, currently residing in the UK. I have been surfing for about 12 years now and have traveled quite a lot through my surfing years. Whether it was for contests or just for free surfing, every time I traveled I learned something new, but one of the main concepts that always comes up is respect. Respect to other cultures, to the local people and most importantly to the environment. Unfortunately, one thing that shocked me is the respect most of the tourists or surfers didn’t have for all these things. They tend to not care about the local people, leave their crap everywhere and just take full advantage of what’s on offer without giving anything back! What happened recently in Japan with the Earthquake, Tsunami and nuclear problems showed all of us once again how powerful Mother Nature was and I strongly believe that we need to do whatever we can to protect the environment and give it as much respect as we can. The less pollution there is the better chance we give to our children at having a healthy life!

For a while now I have tended to opt for small ethical businesses that made an effort towards having eco-friendly products rather than big careless franchises. I believe, with where consumerism is heading at the moment, that people need to support their local businesses more and give the big brands and shops a break. In my eyes, business shouldn’t be all about the value for money you get out of one product but more about the values that the brand conveys and the relationship you might have with the people or the standards from different businesses.
Every time I go for a surf I’m always appalled by the amount of plastic and waste on the beach and in the water and I feel like us surfers in particular should care about protecting the ocean in order to keep surfing our favorite waves in a healthy and safe way!
Therefore I am glad to finally be able to represent a company that has ethical and environmentally friendly values around the different contests and surf spots in Europe and will try to make the surfers’ attitude about the environmental issues change towards a greener future.Cheers, Peace and see you in the water!

Jacob Spilberg, surfer, entrepreneur, and lifelong resident of the sea hails from the small surf city of Long Beach, New York. Since his graduation from the Rhode Island School of Design in 2007, Jacob has been combining his passion for design with his love of surfing in creating Overture Surf, an environmentally conscious line of surf products and accessories.

Jacob believes that the influence of surfing extends well beyond the boundaries of the sea into all aspects of a surfer’s life. Surfing is about mutual respect between the surfer and the ocean, both in and out of the water. It is our responsibility to preserve the environment that allows us this lifestyle through the design, creation and use of sustainable products.

I am from Santa Cruz CA. I was born and raised here. I have been going to the beach as long as I can remember, it’s just steps away from my house. I am a nose-rider. Surfing is more then a hobby, it’s more of a life style and obsession.

The ocean is just so mysterious, every wave is different and I feel fortunate that I live in Santa Cruz, a great surf town where we get all sorts of wave sizes, different swell direction, a bunch of different select spots, etc. A lot of good suffers have come from Santa Cruz and I hope to be one of them. But, in the summer when the kooks come in from all over the world wanting to learn how to surf not respecting the ocean and polluting and throwing their trash everywhere that’s not cool, my friends and I have collected so many plastic bags and trash floating in the water.

I want to set a good example and change surfing in to a more Eco friendly environment.I live, love, sleep, eat and breath surfing, I don’t know what I would do with out the ocean. so I respect it as much as possible. Being green is important to me because I love the ocean and our beaches and don’t know what I would do with out surfing. So I just wanted to thank wave tribe for giving me a chance to work with you and the sponsorship, let’s do this the green way, and go surf!

WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST SKATEBOARD AND WHEN DID YOU GET IT?: My first skateboard was from my Dad. It was a Rob Roskopp with the graphic of a monster mouth. The shape was with no nose and a huge tail. I got it when I was around 6. Then for Christmas I got my own first board with a mini nose and a huge tail. It was a classic Santa Cruz model.

FAVORITE TRICK:It took me four years to finally pull a kickflip. So I would say kickflips are my favorite cause all the time I put into learning kickflips paid off. Now I have them down and there not going away.

WHEN YOUR NOT SKATING, WHAT ARE YOU DOING?I am hanging out with my beautiful girls, Nicole and Jemmaly. Going to the beach with them and surfing. I love the ocean I just wish it were a little cleaner cause I get sick from the grim and get bad ear infections. I also like to snowboard, hang with my friends, and family.

FAVORITE SKATE SPOT:Was the Huntington Beach Skatepark. They recently demolished it for the entrance to the football stadium. So my new park is Volcoms Costa Mesa Park. My favorite cities to skate are LA, NY, Barcelona, Melbourne, and Tokyo.
